Apparently I'm just geeky enough to make up beer labels for my homebrew.



Design-wise, it's nothing special... but I was pressed for time and I wanted to print some up before the beer was all gone!

Right, so my first batch of home brewed beer is now complete. At first I thought it tasted a little too sweet, but I think I just may have been drinking entirely too much Bud Light that day. Stupid football for making me drink gross beer!

Anyway, I've had a few glasses the past two days and I'm really liking not only the flavor but the drinkability of it. It's actually really thirst quenching... which could be a bad thing. I just downed an entire pint of it in three sips cause I was thirsty. I'm going to have to make sure to keep a few bottles of this around for when the summer rolls around.

Anyway here's my breakdown:

Style: American Wheat
Name: Joogle's Whack-Attack Wheat Wonder
Carbonation Level: Good. Pours with a nice head.
Color: Golden
Flavor: Has a mild sweetness to it, but otherwise pretty good. Very drinkable
Smell: Nice, hints of fruit. Lemon mostly.
Overall: I'd like to think for my first time this is a success. I can defiantly remember drinking much much worse. Gotta keep some around for the summer.


I really need to take a better shot if this. But this will do for now.

First attempt at making my own brew this evening. Heres what I used:

1 Golden Wheat UME
1 Whispering Wheat Weizenbier
1 Pack Booster

Plan on keeping it in the brew keg for 7-9 days.

Nothing exciting and experimental off the bat, just wanted to get the hang of making it first... so we'll see.

Saturday morning I took a little field trip to Salem, MA with camera in tow. I like to get down there at least once a year early in the fall before it gets too packed with crazy tourists. Its an awesome little town that offers up so much history. If you've never been I suggest to try and find some time to go!

A little over a week ago I broke my wrist. Since then I've been itching to take some photos... finally tonight I just bit the bullet and suffered through a few shots.
Not the best pictures, but it was definitely nice to be out there with camera in tow!

Besides, after a few days of rain a girl just needs to get out in the sunshine!

Went down to the shoreline over in Riverside just before dusk. I have to say, I was surprised at just how perfect the natural lighting turned out! I really couldn't have asked for a better night!

Saturday Megan & I went on a little adventure to Fort Wetherill in Jamestown, RI. After walking around the massive fort and taking pictures I wanted to learn a bit more about it's history.

From what I can tell, the fort was first built in the summer of 1776 and was used for coastal defense . However it was surrendered to the British early on in the Revolutionary War without a shot even being fired! In 1778 the British abandoned the fort and the French took it over, only to go back into British possession in 1779.  The fort was pretty much abandoned from 1779 until about 1898 when it was used in the Spanish-American War. During World War I & World War II troops were stationed at the fort and updates were made, but it didn't see any action. At the end of World War II German POW's were showed anti-nazi feelings were sent here to undergo training before heading back to Germany to become leaders in rebuilding Germany.

Nothing much has happened with Fort Wetherill since the 1960's and thats made abundantly clear with the massive amounts of broken beer bottles and horrible graffiti strewn about. Nonetheless, its a cool place to poke around and the state park side of the area is really nice and well maintained.

Ok... history lesson over, I promise.

Megan and I went for a little photo field trip this afternoon and stumbled onto a part of the railroad and drawbridge that connected to the Eastside Railroad Tunnel which was built in 1908. We didn't venture any further into the woods to find the now welded shut Gano St. tunnel opening but I think we got some good shots from where we were at. Apparently the tunnel is 5080 feet and cuts across the eastside from Gano St. to Benefit St. From what I can tell the last train pass through these tracks around 1981.
